Review from The Michelin Guide 2011This easy going Chelsea standby serves up solid Mexican fare in a vivid, sophisticated dining space fitted out with shimmering blue mosaic tiles, tangerine colored walls, beet red accents, and creamy jumbo lanterns. At the bar, big mesh containers hold mounds of the house-made tortillas and a cheerful crowd lines the stools, downing seriously good (and strong) margaritas while they wait to be seated. In the dining room, couples and friends line the tables, tucking into creative spins on Mexican favorites like a marvelous ensalada de calamares, spiked with fresh cracked black pepper, cool cilantro, and a lick of crema; a fresh batch of Niman Ranch pork carnitas; or a traditional, but irresistible tres leches con platanos, strewn with candied pecans. |
